Pilot Plumix

I have a few new things to share with this everyone! The first being the Pilot Plumix. I read a review of this pen at Unposted and I ran right out to Target to buy it! I'll be honest, I hate it.

Things I hate about this pen:
1. The color of the ink. The blue is a weird washed out color on plain white paper, but a nicer color of blue when it is on the cream Piccadilly paper. But I don't like it. Plus the fact it has blue ink is a little misleading as it is a smoky black pen body.

2. The nib is too wide. But I can't figure out how to use it in a way that takes advantage of the wideness. I prefer a finer point.

3. Overall, the shape of the pen is unappealing. The cap also twists on, which I found to be irritating and I kept forgetting and tried to pull it off several times.

4. When I inserted the ink cartridge, I was somehow was doing it wrong. And I ended up breaking a plastic piece in there. I could see it was cracked through the barrel. To the Plumix's credit, the pen still worked fine.

Now aside from the pen you may be asking yourself, "what in the heck is that pen sitting on?" It is an awesome, creepy and unique nightlight I bought when visiting Muscatine. Click here to visit the maker's blog! I linked to one post about Cracked in the Head Nightlights, but if you scroll down the page you can see more of her work. I want to buy them all! Check it out!

Pilot Frixion Color-Pencil-Like Gel Pens

So, my absence is partially explained by this post! We are moving in a month and a half to a town across the state. It is a big scary move where I have to give up an 8.5 year job and friends in exchange for my husband to be an engineer. This is where the silver lining is, his salary will continue to finance my pen habit. So the move is bittersweet.

We have been out of town for several days searching for a place to live. Because I am an organized person, I wanted this move to be organized. Therefore, I present my moving book.

I took a junk journal that had been lying around. I have two more that are identical, it was part of some box set I just had to have for Christmas a few years ago. There are no markings on the book so I don't even know/remember what brand it is. The cover got icky on this one, so I thought I would use it for our moving book. The index cards are there just to show you how I made the tabs along the side. These are plain Mead bookmark index cards bought at office max. They have muted yellow, green, blue and red edges and the back is a solid color. I also have used these to take notes on and have taped them directly into the notebook.

The notebook paper is thin. You can see that I wrote with a pen on the previous side and it shows through easily. I know I will never use these as a journal now because of the paper, but I will keep them around for a random project or two.

The pens are the new Color-Pencil-Like Frixions. They are erasable and erase much much better than the original set of blue/black/red I bought last fall. I think this type wins hands down compared to the non color pencil type.

The yellow is light. I think the pictures make it look darker than it really is. With both colors you can see that the darker colors are only because I went over the lines several times. Both erase well. Much better than I expected them too. I also have this pen in gray and I like it just as much as these two.

Hi-Tec-C Multipen

I have had this Hi-Tec-C multipen for a few months. It is a pink pen body, which is still mostly see through. I originally bought the brown, violet and blue black inks. Recently I added in the clear blue, cherry pink, and apricot orange.

I just did a quick writing sample in a Myndology notebook so you can get a sense of the colors. The brown, blue black and violet inks are fine and what one would expect. The colors are bold and strong. I haven't had many troubles with it not wanting to write which is nice. The .5mm writes much more smoothly than the others.

Out of the three other colors, I find the clear blue to be too much of a sky blue and the orange is difficult to see. The clear blue is the only .5mm refill. The rest are .3mm. I really think that I would be happy if all future refills were .4mm. The blue runs out so quickly but I am okay with that because it gives me a chance to buy more refills.

The cherry pink is nearly a perfect color for me. It isn't red and it isn't pink, but it is a nice color that can pops from the page without trouble. Completely unlike the orange. There isn't much I can do with that color other than doodle.
Notice that the .5mm does look quite a bit larger than the .3mm
On a side note, I absolutely love the Myndology line of notebooks. The paper is nice and responds well to almost all of the pens I have thrown at it so far.
